I noticed this on the box score of last night's Game 6 between Worcester and Providence:
2 - PRO Reich, 13:44 - Fighting , 5 min
2 - WOR Armstrong, 13:44 - Major - Boarding , 5 min (2 PP)
2 - WOR Armstrong, 13:44 - Major - Spearing , 5 min (PP)
2 - WOR Armstrong, 13:44 - Game misconduct - Spearing (62.5), 10 min
2 - WOR Armstrong, 13:44 - Game misconduct - Boarding (42.5), 10 min
I've managed to confirm in the Worcester Telegram that, yes, that was in fact a double *major* penalty (10 minutes of scorefest opportunity), but neither the Telegram nor the Providence Journal recaps describe *what*, exactly, happened. TheAHL.com recap doesn't mention it at all!
So, was anyone at the game or know more? I'm curious as to who he hit, what seemed to happen to cause it, and how Reich's fighting major factored in, since there was no Worcester fighting major balancing it out.
(ETA). Well, there's part of the mystery clarified. From Sharkspage.com:
Worcester's frustration would show at 13:44 of the second period when Riley Armstrong was called for a rare double-major after he boarded a Providence defenseman and then while being escorted off the ice to the locker room speared P-Bruin defenseman Johnny Boychuk.
